6. Moderators and Administrators Explained

Moderators and Administrators have special privileges to manage forums. SiteNet BBS also includes a special ‘Moderator Admin Control Panel’ where moderators can delete and moderate messages. Moderators can also set settings of the forums they are moderators for.

The ‘Moderator Admin Control Panel’ can be accessed by clicking the moderator button when browsing any forum. The ‘Moderator Admin Control Panel’ allows for moderator users to manage forums without accessing the ‘Main Control Panel’.

Moderators are only able to manage forums for which they are moderators for. To assign moderators to forums, go to the Control Panel >> Forum Manager. Click on ‘Forum Settings’ link next to any forum. Supply the name of the moderator where asked to supply moderators for the forum. Note that moderators specified here, needs to actually be moderators.

To create moderators, go the the Control Panel >> User Manager >> Add a Moderator, Administrator or User

To assign moderator status to an existing standard user, find the user’s profile and assign Moderator or Administrator membership status to the user.

Moderators may receive email notification for each new message posted in forums where they are moderators. Moderators may set this in their profiles by clicking the 'Profile' button when logged into the Forums.

Email notification of new messages can also be set when creating or editing the profile of a moderator in the Main Control Panel.

The same applies to administrators as with moderators regarding email notification.
