5. How to Manage Users

The user manager enables you to:

- edit/delete registered users.
- find user profiles so that you can edit their profiles/details
- add moderators or administrators
- grant moderator/administrator status to users
- edit user titles according to the number of posts they have made
- get user email addresses for mailing list purposes

5.1 Member title configurations

Member titles are assigned to users according to the amount of messages they posted. These titles are displayed below the names of users when reading topics.

You are able to set these titles in the Control Panel >> User Manager >> Member Title Configuration.

 

5.2 How to delete users

To delete a registered user, go to the Control Panel >> User Manager. Type his/her user name in the ‘Delete’ box and press ‘Delete’.

 

5.3 How to edit a user’s profile.

To edit a registered user’s profile, go to the Control Panel >> User Manager. Type his/her user name in the ‘Find’ box and press find.

Another way to edit a user’s profile is to click on the letter corresponding to the first letter of the user’s name. A list of users should appear. Click on the user's name to edit the user's profile.

 

5.4 How to add a moderators or administrators (Super Users)

5.5 How to ban users via IP address.

If there is an offending user and you would like to ban him/her, go to the message he/she posted and click on 'IP Logged'. (Only moderators and administrators may view IP addresses) A popup window will appear asking you to log in. Log in and the users IP address will be displayed. Once it's displayed go to the user manager in the admin control panel and click on 'Ban Users Via IP'. Add the IP address in the list and this user won't be able to post any messages. When he/she tries to post messages, a screen will appear telling the user that he/she does not have any access to post messages on the forum.

 

5.6 How to get user email addresses for mailing list purposes.

Go to the Control Panel >> User Manager. Then click ‘Get User Names and Email Addresses For Mailing List’ – Now click the ‘Retrieve’ button.

You can also retrieve extra information for a personalized mailing by checking the check boxes listed.

When the email addresses has been retrieved, copy and paste the email addresses into your mailing list software.
