When adding a URL I get an error that a name or email address or link title or URL was not present and that I should supply the details, even-though I have entered text in the required fields/boxes.

Some of the fill-in-box names in the 'Add URL' form/template is most likely not what it should be. Compare your 'Add URL' templates to the ones that came with the .zip installation archive.
You can also choose to restore the default 'Add URL' template by clicking the 'Restore Default' button when editing the 'Add URL' template from the Template Manager. Once the default 'Add URL' template has been restored the submission process should work again. After this you can just re-customize the 'Add URL' template.
