Hello!

When I go to the setup.cgi page a put the correct paths and I get this message. I set up everything and the permissons are ok. I erase all and install tree times... Please help.

Problem

The full server path to the 'data directory' that you specified does not exist.
Use the back button of your browser to go back and correct the problem.

note:
This is the data path /home/httpd/data
html path : /home/httpd/html
URL: http://209.132.238.24
images URL: http://209.132.238.24/fmimages
cgi URL: http://209.132.238.24/cgi-bin/fmsearch

Perl reports that the path could not be found and it will normally not be wrong.

To retrieve the path to your 'data' directory do the following:

1. Download the following file:
http://www.focalmedia.net/files/getinfo.zip

2. Unzip and install getinfo.cgi - There is a readme file which explains how to install it. Installation is very simple.

3. Load the file up in your browser. You will get various information on your server/host. Look for something that reads: SCRIPT_FILENAME
Next to the SCRIPT_FILENAME will be the complete server path the getinfo.cgi

By getting this path it should be easy to determine the path to your 'data' directory.

I recall having a similar problem.

My host told me the path was something like: /home/cgi-bin/searchdata.

But it turned out to be something like: /home/public_html/cgi-bin/data.

I am having the a similar error. Firstly, I cant put the data directory aywhere except in with the other HTML files. Secondly, I have no idea of the path to it dispite running the getinfo.cgi. My server (Netfirms) say the path is "$ENV{'DOCUMENT_ROOT'}/www" which would meanI add "/data" to it. That didnt work either. The getinfo.cgi says its something completely different.... help please help!!!

Maybe it's a good idea to contact your host and ask them for the path to your home directory. From there it should not be to difficult to determine the correct path.

If you don't have a place to put the data directory, place the data directory inside your cgi-bin directory as this would be more secure.
