Hi,
My site is running SiteNet BBS Ver 2.0.3. Since last weeks, I believe someone had exploited the site so much so that the moderator will receive lots of 'Notification' with the details as extracted below:

Not sure if I were doing the right thing but i was desperate, as I noted the tid is 842, I ftp to the server and deleted both 842.cnt and 842.dat. However, this didn't fix the problem as the 842 came back say only after about 1 hour lapse. Now, moderator started to get the same emails agian.
Please enlighten us how else we can fix this problem as we are feeling quite helpless?
Thanks in advance,
vic

Hi Vic,
If you have the option 'not to register an account to post' then turn this off and require all users to register before they can post inside a forum. To be able to post a user must then register an account and must obtain their password by a valid email address to be able to post.
If you have registration turned on then delete the account where the spam was posted from. The spammer will need to re-create an account and obtain the password with a valid email address - making it difficult to create this situation as it will be a lot of work to post one spam message. (The registration process cannot be automated with a script because a valid email is required to obtain the password to be able to post)

Hi Gerrit,
Thanks for your suggestion. By turning on the prior registration requirement, it seems to stop the spam for now
Regards,
