Hi,
I have just installed SiteNetBBS and all went oh so well I couldn't believe the ease of it.
But now I have hit a snag - I am trying to login to the admin area via admin.cgi and my username and password is not being accepted. When this happened the first time I went back to set up to check amd changed this detail. When I went to the admin login screen the same thing happened.
So what am I doing incorrectly if setup tells me that everything has been setup ok?
Can someone give me a pointer on this?
Many thanks

I saw this happen in some rare situations with Internet Explorer. It looks like a bug that comes with internet explorer's cookie abilities.
This will usually occur when you run setup.cgi from http://yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/admin/setup.cgi
If you try to access the control panel via
http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/admin/setup.cgi
and the user name and password was set on (via cookies)
http://yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/admin/setup.cgi
Internet Explorer will downright deny any cookies trying to be set or read from
http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/admin/setup.cgi
if you try to set the cookie on
http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/admin/setup.cgi
after setting it on
http://yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/admin/setup.cgi
The above is only an observation which I have seen in the past and might not apply to you.
This is usually a cookie problem.
To fix the problem, clear the cookies of your browser. Then rerun setup.cgi
If you want emmediate access to the control panel, use Netscape or Opera

Hi Miles,
I went back and reworked the setup and it now works great. I just love it. so easy to do. The best I have come across for user friendliness in setting up.
Thanks for such a great product
Val
