First, this seems to be a wonderful peice of software, and Kudos to you all on your great effort.
Now for my question. I recently downloaded SiteNet BBS for my website, which is running on IIS 5 on a Windows 2000 Pro OS. I read the installation document, twice in fact, and then got to work. I copied all the folders to their appropriate locations, changed all the lines in all the .cgi and .pm files to the appropriate settings, and was ready to get to work. I dropped by my website and attempted to load the Setup.cgi file as instructed, but I got a HTTP 500 error. All the files are in their place, the first line of each is pointed to "C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe" and they all point to the Config.cgi file at "C:\Inetpub\cgi-bin\config.cgi" and the Config file is set to "C:\Inetpub\Data". I have double checked everything, but I still cant get it to work.
Also, what should I set the .cgi and .pm files to always open with? Right now they are set to open with the Perl 5 Command Line Interpreter.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Oh, and keep up the good work, guys!
Sincerely,
ChozenOne

If you receive and internal server my guees is that the first line pointing to Perl might not be correct.
Try: C:/Perl/bin/perl.exe
With the slashes the other way round. Also do this for all paths you enter in the setup.

I don't mean to sound impatient or ingrateful, but has anyone had any experience with this problem that could shed some light on it? Any help at all would be so greatly appreciated.

Hullo:
I am having similar problems and cannot seem to get the site to run. I have a Windows 2000 Server (SP3) running IIS 5.
All the settings are as suggested (I tried \ instead of / and put perl.exe at the end and not).
When I browse to setup.cgi through IE, I get Error 500 page not found
When I browse to setup.cgo through Mozilla 1.1, I get %1 is not a valid Win32 application.
Which got me thinking that maybe my Perl installation was not done properly. So I opened a DOS box and checked the $PATH - and it was fine.
I then typed, in the DOS box: Perl setup.cgi. Lo and behold, the HTML text was generated - but no good for me in the DOS box! Why is this not generating in the IE/Mozilla browsers!
Please help! Would love to set this up, and get moving - its a great piece of software - if I can get it to work!!
Thanks

OK - Chozenone I hope you have either figured out how to fix the issue or you read this at some point in time... The problem apparently is entirely with the IIS server setting.
I noticed that cgi files were not associated with Perl as a default - only pl and plx files were.
I associated cgi with Perl, and pm for good measure. And voila - it works fine now. (Open properties for your IIS root, Edit the WWW Service, go to the Home Directory, click Configuration and then Add the extensions, with the same arguments as pl. It will work immediately after that.
Small issue - BIG problem.
Oh well.

I tried that and for some reason it still doesn't work. I set .cgi up exactly like .pl but only the pl works. I put the "%s" %s thing on there. Isn't that the way to do it. I'm just plain stuck.
