I have just setup a new domain which i want to use the existing Sitenet forum on however, when i changed across all of the folder in the data directory the new location of the forums shows no posts when there are in fact close to 1000 how would i go about making the old posts visable from the main screen of Sitenet?

Regards,

Lee

Set your 'data' directory to the permission setting of 777

Then go inside your 'data' directory via ftp/telnet/ssh - Set all files and directories that resides in this directory to the permission setting of 777

Miles,

Thanks for your quick response buddy

I have tried that and i still get the same, you can see what i mean if you go to:

http://www.europeanboards.com/cgi-bin/forum/netboard.cgi

As you can see from the frontpage it shows zero posts however, once you click on a forum link youll find that the post count is actually correct.

Any further help you can offer on this would be appreciated.

Regards,

Lee

Hi Lee,

Are you sure you have transferred all the files? It looks like some of the files that should be in the 'data' directory is not there. (The files that keeps track of the number of posts, etc..)

Also load up http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/netboard/admin/admin7.cgi

This checks the integrity of your 'data' files and fixes it if something is wrong.

Miles,

I beleive all of the files were transffered correctly.

All i got my host to do was zip the old data directory into a file and email it to me where i uploaded the data directory to the new location.

I have just ran admin7.cgi and it didnt tell me of any problems or anything although ihave just noticed that one of the topics in the general forum now has a minus (-) figure.

Is this possibly the same problem that was encountered a few months ago?

Regards,

Lee

Sounds like there is a problem in the 'data' directory with some of the files. Maybe it's a good idea to try and retransfer all files in the 'data' directory again. Ensure that you transfer/ftp the files in ascii mode.

I would be happy to take a look at it if you would like that.

My email is miles@focalmedia.net
