Hi,

I fixed .htaccess according to installation documentation. When I tried to link to http://www.yourdomain.com/snbbsforumindex.html I reached a 404 error

Could you help me to fix it ?

.htaccess and Mod Rewrite are well working on my server

Did I have to build my forums before install rewrite ?

Thank You

Remember that you have to edit the rules as presented here:
http://www.focalmedia.net/snb_docs1.html#1_6

Replace the path /cgi-bin/netboard/ in the rules with the path to where netboardr.cgi and netboard.cgi resides on your host.

Hi Miles,

Following 1.6 document is what I did. I change /cgi-bin/netboard/... by /cgi-bin/sitenetbbs/...because netboard.cgi and netboardr.cgi reside like this: /cgi-bin/sitenetbbs/netboard.cgi

I make the sub-directory /sitenetbbs/ because I have other scripts in /cgi-bin/ folder

I delete completely the script and reload it carefully. When I install .htaccess at the root of my server I still obtain a 500 error. I tried to install .htaccess in my data folder where forums folders are created and I had a not found 404 with: http://mydomain.com/snbbsforumindex.html

I also change N for Y in netboard.cgi the same thing in netboardr.cgi

There are no www public folder on the server.

index.html is directly at the root

This the way other folders are distributed on the server

/cgi-bin/sitenetbbs/netboard.cgi
/cgi-bin/sitenetbbs/netboardr.cgi
/cgi-bin/sitenetbbs/admin/admin.cgi

/forum/ where content of data folder reside
/html/ where content of html folder reside

/directory/other site pages

It is that I have to solve the problem.

Thank you for your help.

P.S. : sentences to make the .htaccess on 1.6 document are written in two lines each. Is it a good advice to write then on only one line each?

If you correctly edited the lines then it is probably a .htaccess file problem or a problem on the side of mod rewrite. If memory serves me correctly then there are options where .htaccess is global for all directories or for just the directory it resides in. Maybe it's such a problem?
