One of the hooks I wanted to use to entice potential customers to add to my search directory, was the fact that most search engines are weighing heavily on "link popularity". The more places your link resides on external domains, the better.

However, after having many people posting their URLs to my turbo seek, I noticed that their personal "link" is being dynamically generated EVEN THOUGH I am using the HTML generator when building my pages.

I have not seen any setting that will build the clients URL with simple HTML. Example below:

SIMPLE URL:
http://www.hbcentral.com

TURBO SEEK GENERATED URL:
http://www.hbcentral.com/cgi-bin/searchtree/tseek.cgi?id=57&ct=Education_L2K_Training-Ebooks-Web_Sites_L2K_Mini,045Sites

My biggest concern is not so much the size, but the call to a Database will stop most crawls/spiders in their tracks. Is there any way that Turbo can write a SIMPLE URL?

For me - this will help my rankings (as links will be followed to related content)

For the poster: they will have a recognized external link to their website (increasing their popularity and rankings in other engines).

Am I missing the setting?

Thanks a ton,
-scott

Hi,

To set up straight URL links inside the generated pages, go to the control panel. Then click the 'settings & options' button. Then click 'General configuration'.

Look for a setting that reads:
'How to link to URLs of link listings in directory:'

Choose 'Go to URL directly'
