First of all, great script !!

Second, I messed up all my templates :(
I was wondering if you have sample templates because I'm not very good at editing 'em :(
I guess you can say I'm lost !!
This is what I want to do:

One, have my search engine called MetalliSearch
Second, I want to add about 8-10 directories
Third, I want the main page to look like this one
http://www.focalmedia.net/tbsampledir.html

I think I'm having the most problem with the index.html, ugh I think I'm completely lost

This is what I messed up
http://www.metallifukinca.com/html/MetalliSearch/
I dunno if thats even the index file " lol"

Any and all help would be welcome....
Thanks

Just replace your current templates (.html) files with the files that came with the .zip installation archive in your 'data' directory. These templates have all the correct variables that makes everything work. From there it might then be a good idea to edit the these sample templates to fit your needs.

The 'data' directory is explained in the installation instructions.

You have to create the front page yourself. To get these links go to the control panel, and click on 'template manager'. Then click on 'Get Links For Creating Frontpage'

You would want to use a web editor to create your front page. Use something like microsoft frontpage, dreamweaver or netobjects fusion. These are usually easy to learn and professional web page design tools. These are commercial programs. There are also other free web editors which you may find at http://www.builder.com

Hi oldfan

To make your front page you do not need a template as such.

First design your front page, which I guess will be based around your existing web site design.

The only things you need to add to get a system working like the example you want is the search box and the category links.

The search box HTML can be found by opening the admin/admin.cgi file in your cgi-bin. once open click on template then on template manager.

Click on Default Directory Template Plug-In then in the first yellow box showing the html find and copy the text that refers to the form. it should be something like this

%%addurl%%

make shore you put the full URL to the file tsearch.cgi which is in your cgi bin.

To get the category links set up on the front page first you must set up the categories in the directory Manager. Once this is done click on the link on the top of the directory manager page marked front page links at the bottom of this page you will find all the categories that you have just defined. All you need to do then is copy the shortcut of the hyperlink on to your front page.

feel free to visit my site and view the front page HTML it is set up very similar to the demo you mentioned

I hope this is of helps.
