Hi, guys! Long time no post -- which tells you I'm still rolling merrily along with TS...

Two questions regarding user submissions of new reviews:

1. I want to require the reviewer to supply an e-mail address when submitting a review. Is there an easy way to do this? Is there a way to make the e-mail field mandatory? If there is not, then is there a way to define a new key in the review submission form, and make it mandatory? How do I do this?

2. When a reviewer submits an e-mail address along with a review, the e-mail address is automatically linked to the reviewer's name. I don't want to subject my visitors to spam, so I would like to disable display of the reviewer's e-mail address during display of a review. (Yes, I want to require an e-mail address when the user submits a review, but disable display of the same address to protect the reviewer.)

My ultimate wish would be the ability to A) require an e-mail address, B) offer an optional field for the reviewer's own home page URL, C) disable display of the reviewer's e-mail, and D) instead, display the reviewer's URL, if it exists.

Miles, Gerrit, any old TS veterans: Any ideas as to how I can accomplish any or all of the above? If none of this is native to TS, I'm comfortable enough with changing a few script variables, and more than willing to work some Javascript into my templates.

Hopeful, eternally grateful, and FocalMedia-loyal,

JR

Hi Jr,

The easiest way at present to require a reviewer to submit an email address would probably be to use JavaScript. There should be samples of requiring users to complete fields with JavaScript at http://www.javascripts.com

The addition of URLs is not available at present. An alternative might be to substitute the email address field with a URL field where users supply their URLs.

Hope the info helps.

Miles
