I have created a new field specific to each link entered in the directory. Where in the templates would I insert the "%%fieldname%%" to have it displayed with each link?

You would want to insert the variables inside tmplsearch.html and lsearchres_loc.html
The above 2 templates are to display link listings inside categories and search results.
