I have my directory listings sorted by hits. And so this lady who owns one of the sites listed is always clicking away at the link to make her site rise higher.

I have, on purpose, reduced the number of hits shown under her entry in the CP, but it does not register. A rebuild just returns it to the original count.

Can you tell me the best way to stop a website owner doing this? How best can you lower a particular sites ranking, if only to teach the party a lesson?

Thanks.

Try loading up http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/tseek/admin/admin.cgi?fct=setperms

You'll het failed messages which is normal. The above will check your file permissions and attempt to correct it if any problems was found.

Does the hit number update in the control panel?

No, it does not. She just added another 100 hits to it today. If I can't fix this the simple way, I'm going to delete her site altogether. I don't like fraud.

I ran setperms. Several permission denieds, but it ran where allowable.

When I edit the entry in the CP, it does not retain my changes. Any ideas?

Thank you for your time.

Fixed.

I ftp'ed into Data and reduced the count in contents.txt, then did a rebuild. That brought the number down to precisley what it should be.

While in their, I looked at all my permissions and 777 seems to be what they are.

I would still like to know an easier way of fixing this.

Thank you for your time.

Tell the "lady" in the most pleasant way that you are going to remove her listing or reset the number to zero if she insists on trying to fix the figures.
You might suggest that you know exactly who clicks on the links by their IP address, even if you don't really
