Hi Every one,

I have done a final check and I have not noticed anything that in my opinion is wrong.

- Every cgi has the permission of 755
- Only the config.cgi has the permission of 777
- The admin folder has the permission of 755
- The data folder has the permission of 777 and I put it in the admin folder.
- The permission of the files in the data folder are 744

I downloaded the software and I want to test it at home so I installed a linux server.

All the html files I put in the html folder (/var/www/html)
The DOCUMENT_ROOT is : /var/www/html

I give my computer the name gullie and an ip of 10.10.10.9
If I type: http://10.10.10.9 or http://gullie in my address bar I can see the apache welcome page.

Now I put the tseek folder in: /var/www/cgi-bin

So it looks like:

/var/www/cgi-bin/tseek
/var/www/cgi-bin/tseek/cgi
/var/www/cgi-bin/tseek/docs
/var/www/cgi-bin/tseek/cgi/admin/data

So if I type:

http://gullie/cgi-bin/tseek/cgi/admin/setup.cgi
or
http://10.10.10.9/cgi-bin/tseek/cgi/admin/setup.cgi

In my browser I am getting the setup screan.

This is done by password protecting the directory where the admin cgi scripts resides with the web server. To dissable the built in password protection, leave the user name and password fill-in box blank in the previous screen.

I CAN NOT GO FURTHER BECAUSE I AM GETTING FAIL REPORTS.

Can someone help me please.

Set config.cgi to the permission setting of 777

The files within the 'data' directory also needs the permission setting of 777

That should do it.

I tried it but it is not working.
Can someone give me the answers please?

At home I do not have Internet.
1) Do I need a domain name before I can install TurboSeek on my linux computer?

I have a standalone linux server (Fedora 8) with the name gullie.
If I enter http://gullie or http://10.10.10.8 I can see the apache home page
2) What must be the basic configuration of a linux computer to install TurboSeek?

3) Why TurboSeek is asking me for http://yourdomain even when I type http://gullie

Can someone give me the answer because I did everything to get TurboSeek working but until now I can not install it.

Thank you in advanced

Hi,

Have registered your own domain name?

If so, upload the files to your cgi bin and simply call the setup.cgi in the admin directory.

The process should be very simple..

Hi Rik,

Many thanks.

This information is not on the TurboSeek Website.

I no domain name and so I cannot test the software.

Is there a option to install the software in LAN?

Regards,

Gulano

PS (You have a nice website. I also want to create one just like you)

Hi,

I understand that you an use it on a LAN but you need Perl to use it.

If you have no domain, you cannot as you need to upload it to the web to use it.

Hi Gulano,

You need to set config.cgi to the permission setting of 777 as explained in 'step 4' of the installation instructions. Also watch the video if you don't understand how to do this. The installation instructions comes with videos that demonstrates this to you.

Hi Gerrit,

Many thanks you for your reply.
I followed the instructions and I understand it now but what never has been told on this forum or on your manual is that you must have a domain. I understand that you must have a registered domain name if you want to install the TurboSeek Software.

I am not so glad with that because I have no domain name.
I am a student which want to setup a search option for our Intranet.
Is there an option to install the software and I appreciate it when you put an expire date on it if it is posible.

Thank you in advanced.

You really don't have to have a domain. The development of this script was done on a linux server with an IP address only. The IP address is used instead of the domain name. (which is the same thing for computers as it loads and IP address in the browser just like a domain name)

I take it you did set config.cgi to the permission setting of 777 - This is why no paths you enter into setup.cgi is being saved.
