I'm currently running TurboSeek with 450 categories and 45000 links. Most of the links have extra fields that I need to import into PS. A few questions.

Can the upgrade be performed without Telenet service?

I can live with the time it take to rebuild the directories and search index using a browser in TS. Will the time required increase significantly if I switch from TS to PS? I use static pages.

I currently validate links by downloading the urls.dat file and running the Xenu link checker program. Is the urls.dat file created in PS or will I have to depend on the internal link checker?

What happens to the TS during/after the PS upgrade? Can the site run using TS until I'm ready to go live with PS? Staffinglinks.com uses index.html with links to each of the category pages in html and the category page links to the TS directory containing the individual links generated by TS. I don't want to take the site down during the conversion and I'd like to have TS available if the upgrade encounters problems.

Thanks

George

Hi George,

You should be able to uprgade it without Telnet or SSH. I would however highly recommend you get Telnet or SSH access.

PS should build faster than TS through the browser.

With PS when validating links you can retrieve the URLS with the 'SQL Query Tool' that comes with PowerSeek. The SQL query to retrieve the URLs will look like this:

SELECT url FROM links

Yes, you can run TS untill you decide to switch to PS.
