Hello,

If I submit a link to my own directory I receive all the correct confirmation information in the welcome email and subsequent emails, but the text is not formatted so there are no line breaks.

I've tried adding some HTML but that is not supported.

My email client is MS Office Outlook. I receive HTML and text emails from other sources with no incorrect formatting.

How can I ensure that my members receive correctly formatted text emails?

Thanks,
Ben

Hi Ben,

When customizing the email message copy and paste everything into the Windows notepad text editor program. Remove the text from PowerSeek (where you edit the custom email) and copy and paste everything back from notepad.

This should sort out the formatting. When the text is copied to notepad you might need to redo the formatting.

Hi Gerrit,

Thanks. I tried exactly as you suggested but there's no change.

I copied the email into Notepad
I deleted the contents from the customize window
I copied the contents from Notepad and pasted it into the window, then saved it.

As the line breaks were already there, there was no need to format. Are you suggesting I need to undo then redo all the line breaks while it's in the Notepad window?

Regards,
Ben

Hi Ben,

When in note pad remove all the page breaks and re-create them. You get different kinds of page breaks which is not visible to the eye.

Hi Gerrit,

I tried all your suggestions but I'm still seeing emails that are unformatted. I'm averaging about 5 submissions per day in my directory now, so these emails are an important marketing opportunity.

Could I ask you to try a submission yourself? Can I raise a support ticket for this?

Regards,
Ben

Outlook is terrible at this. It wraps the text and discards line breaks. There is a command when viewing the email available in Outlook.

Open the email >>Format >> Unwrap text

This seldom works though and Outlook exhibits this behavior when information is sent from any form results from the web.

Open the same email with Outlook Express and you will see all of the spacing, line breaks, and formatting displayed properly. Pretty sad when their free product display form results correctly and their paid product does not.

Sometimes it helps if you download the email file from your "data" folder like "informer.eml" . Open it in a text editor such as "TextPad" and format the line breaks, then upload it in ASCII mode with your FTP program.
