Can anyone tell me or point me to information to import my directory structure, vs. typing it all in one-at-a-time?

Hi Chris,
If you have or can get the structure in a text file then you can use the Importer plugin.
The categories will need to look like this in the text file:
/categorymain/child1/child2/etc...
/categorymain/child...
etc..
You can find the import plugin when you go to the control panel >> plugins >> import/export utillity.
