Hi Team,

Although I have the search plugin on I'm still getting this:

Maximum number of searches exceeded. Access denied. Please try again later.

Any ideas?

Regards

I am not a 'team' but
your solution is in Search Settings sectiom of your General Settings > Global Engine Settings Folder under Number of searches allowed by unique IP Address

Hi Amray,

The solution you refer is already in effect which is why I asked the question..

The plugin for 'Spambot Disabler Ver: 1.0 Beta'' which is what refer, does not seem to show the template?

The word 'Team' is an 'expression' implying we all work together..

You could log into your control panel and change the number of searches allowed by unique IP Address to a higher setting when you are going to be doing lots of searches, then change it back again to a lower number when you are done.

The Support Team probably has a better solution than this, but in your case what I would do to solve the problem (as I understand it) is simply:

1. Open the "Search Term Statistics" plugin.
2. In the "Terms/Keywords:" box just type in the offending keyword, and click "Get Statistics".
3. Then on the results page just click, "Delete" and that keyword should be gone.
4. If that didn't get rid of it completely just click, "Choose a date range below for keyword statistics between a time frame:" and set a range far enough back to get rid of the offending keyword completely, then search that keyword and delete it.

I don't know how often that spammer will cause you to perform this process, but it only takes a few seconds and a couple clicks to get rid of any number of keywords. Eventually a spammer should grow tired abusing your search box since their keyword won't appear on your 'top keyword' lists anymore.

It works perfectly on my website every time, I don't understand why it wouldn't work on your website, too. You should be able to delete the offending keywords and lower the number of searches allowed. If they still appear on your 'top keywords' lists I must have misunderstood the issue. I won't point out all the obvious things like clearing your cache before checking to see if the keyword was actually deleted or not, etc, since you are a more advanced user than I.

If you really want 'top keywords' lists on your website, why not just create your own template includes for whatever templates you want? You could add the keywords you want, in whatever order you want, and have them show anywhere you want. I know this is probably not satisfactory, just my attempt at a workaround. That's all.

Rik,

I see you created an earlier post about this, or issue similar/related to this. Don't want to waste our time by attempting dumb solutions, but I will give it one last try as I had a few links get stuck last year before the Support Team added a way to turn on the 'display HTML code' feature (#7 Control Panel Settings) under Settings in the control panel so that HTML code inside listings are ignored. Now I keep it turned on and have never had a link get stuck ever since.

If you want to get rid of your currently stuck links, try using the Export Utility to export all the links from the offending category/s to your hard drive (Excell, or whatever). First, be sure to backup your server. Save the offending Directory Name/s, Title, Meta Description, etc, to notepad (whatever) if you want. Then, export them to your hard drive, and delete the offending directory/s from PowerSeek completely. Run Cean-Up and Table Repair Kit.

In the Spam Filter plugin add the appropriate info to the Keyword Filter, Domain Name Filter, and IP Filter. Consider changing the user names and passwords to your website, server, PowerSeek, etc, if you think your security may have been compromised.

Delete the offending links from wherever you downloaded them (Excell or whatever) on your hard drive. Then, recreate empty directory/s in PowerSeek with the same title, etc, you had before deleting them. Finally, import all the clean links back into your empty directory/s.

With newly cleaned directory/s, new passwords, and all the spam filters in place, that could take care of this issue once and for all?

Hi,

I think you misunderstood ;-)

Its the search keywords that are spam not submitted URL's, they are being entered as URLs. I cannot delete them from the search index
