Hi Team,

I don't know about other PS users but we get spammed BIGTIME through our search box which means we cannot use includes to show end users what was the most recent searches :-(

PLEASE, can we have a fix for this....its such a shame we cannot show searches

Regards

Rik

There is something to stop that.

Go to the control panel >> settings >> global engine settings >> look for the setting reading: 'Number of searches allowed by unique IP Address:' - set it to the number of searches you will allow per hour for each unique ip address.

Rik,

That tool that is suggested does work for the large spammers. But for spammers who just post a couple of searches per day, it does not. You just have to delete the search stats you do not like (otherwise you will block people who search a couple of times).

Also, turn on the spam bot disabler under plug-ins and set it to a strict number for a week. Put a nasty message that you can customize and it seemed to work for me. The problem is this banned my ip address for a couple of searches, so then I had to diable it. But the huge spammers never came back. So maybe run it strict every once in awhile when the spam gets heavy, and then delete ip addresses, and turn of or set to a high number (Powerseek I wish we could delete individual ip addresses in the spam bot disabler instead of all of them. Because I had to delete all ip addresses in order to unblock mine!).

As for the top 20 search terms include, it is rendered useless in my book. Most of the searches that have more than 1 search will not delete (although there is a delete feature for the keyword). I have tied everything I know to get the top 20 keyword list to run without spam in the last year. I haven't found a solution yet.

I guess we have such a powerful program that spam is what we get. Powerseek has taken great lengths to help stop spam, but don't be too agressive with your blocking tactics, or your visitors will be blocked.

Just my experience.

clubbuilder,

You can delete individual IPs in your Data > ipspbltmp folder from FTP you're using without going to MySQL

I cannot delete the SPAM

Here is an example :best live cams for all: a href= http://xxx-live-cams-386f4.spycamsgear.info/ xxx live cams/a xxx live cams a href= http://xxx-msn-cams-386f4.hiddenlimocams.info/ xxx msn cams/a [url=

Even hitting the delete link, it remains there?...Tried to delete via mysql....no good

Amray,

I was looking at the manual this morning, and it says, "Do not manually detete or add anything from any powerseek auto-generated file". Now I don't know if they are referring to the Ip addresses, but since I have had html build problems in the past (because a file was cleaning using the automated clean up tool), I am very reluctant to many mess with anything. That's why it should be in the conrtol panel.

Rick,

That's the same problem I am having. I am guessing the large spam entries are somehow not being deleted throught the delete button in the stats area! I thought it was cache, but tried cleaning several times, to no avial.

Deleting the IP address files through FTP should work fine for now.

Thanks for the comments and suggesstions we'll keep them in mind to add more options regarding blocking spam.

Thanks again

Gerrit
