Why do you sometimes have a category giving you the incorrect number of links in it? Static sites. V2.2.2. A Category called Video Film Rental. The count says ONE link inside the cat. You click and get in there and there are 2, both active and fine. That happens on and off across my site.

Secondly, is there an explanation why categories occasionally do not follow the specified link arrangement of choice? In the cat, a site with 69 hits is #1, while a site with 186 hits is further down. Yet, I have always had sorted by HITS in Global Settings. It appears like that on the front and back end. Some categories are perfectly ordered. Any reason for the inconsistency? Or do I have a setting wrong?

Thanks.

Link counts can go out in some instances where you use the back button of your browser and choose to do something that has already been done. Let's say you approve links from the new submissions area. After approval you for example refresh the screen that says the links has already been moved. This is only an example of some obscure situations that can occur when working with the browser. All code is compatible with such situations because there is nothing to approve or because it has already been approved. The counts of links has to kept track of but in some ways it would not be possible to track exactly what is happening when the back button of a browser is used or when the refresh button of the browser is used after an operation has been completed. This should rarely occur.

To solve the problem, recount the links inside the Control Panel >> To Do >> Generate HTML files

Double check that you are sorting by hits and not by popularity. Sorting via popularity might cause the sorting display as you mentioned. Premimum links will always be above other links no matter what their hits.
