Hey Folks
Im currently trying to figure out how the search features of powerseek work.
Is there a set method of displaying the search results based on keywords, descriptions and the link categories or directory releance to the search terms?
Also, is there a way i can make certain links appear in the top of popular search results by weighting their keywords or descriptions in a specific manner?
Do lower or upper case words get more chance of being listed etc?
Any help you can offer on how the search function calculates the results would be highly appreciated as we are trying to launch a proper seach engine with the software.
Regards,
Lee

If you use PowerSeek's relevance forumala then matches are done via the following method:
All matches gets a score. Titles, descriptions, keywords, URLs and extra searchable fields receives a score if matched.
The score assigned to the match will be higher for titles and keywords, a little lower for descriptions, etc..
The type of match also recieves a score depending if it matched in the title, description, etc.. (relative to the kind of match) Phrase matching, whole word matching and partial word matching recieves a score. (AND and OR) matching is also used for multiple keywords.
At the end all the matches is sorted from highest to lowest score. In future versions you might be able to set the scores that is assigned to matches, etc.. - if this is useful.

Not at this point in time, but we plan on having something available for this in the future.
