New Features/Enhancements/Updates in PowerSeek Ver 4.0.1 (19 Aug 2008)

This is mainly a bug-fix release. After this release we will be working on new features and new plugins. Please find the details of this release below:

  • Extra fields are now supported for comments. What this means is that you can add up to 10 extra fields when collecting comments/reviews about links from users. To configure and use go to the Control Panel >> Settings >> Comments/Reviews Extra Fields/Keys Settings
    _
  • The Empty Category Checker Plugin now has an option to delete all empty categories 'on the fly'.
    _
  • The Importer available (when browsing categories) had an issue when importing links without a date. To solve this the current day's date
would be used for listings being imported that does not have dates.
    _
  • update.cgi had generation issues when updating HTML files through SSH. If the naming convention would be used to give 'more' pages the category name the file names would be named incorrectly and in some situations the setting would be completely ignored. This bug has been fixed.
    _
  • The 'Rate it' and 'Review' sections would display an extra field descriptive name instead of descriptions. This bug has been fixed. This bug would only occur if extra upload fields is available.
    _
  • When the display of HTML code was turned on under the Control Panel >> Settings >> 7. Control Panel Settings, the link descriptions and URLs would not display properly inside the Control Panel. This bug has been fixed.
    _
  • Image Authentication now has extra encryption. When the Add URL form is loaded the submittors IP address is encrypted (using Perl's crypt function and the Control Panel password as the salt) and placed inside the Add URL form as a hidden variable. When a submission is done the originating IP address that loaded the Add URL form is matched against the IP address of the submitter. This ads extra protection against automated submission scripts trying to spam the Directory.
    _
  • Image Authentication is now supported when users register accounts. For users upgrading and wanting to enable this see: http://www.focalmedia.net/pseekmanual/pseek11.html#11_15
New installation of PowerSeek will automatically support this by default.
